Working Across Cultures: Exploring Expectations, Traditions and Opportunities

This workshop looks at similarities and differences in cultures and their impact on how people live their lives. In particular, we will explore the impact of cultures on attitudes towards community, family, and sexuality. There will also be discussion around cross-cultural communication skills that might be particularly useful when working in this space.

Presenter: Shanton Chang completed his PHD at Monash University on Managing Multicultural Workgroups. He has been involved in running similar intercultural workshops within the health sector for organisations such as the Burnet Institute, VAC and has presented at various Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Forums. He was a past co-convenor of the Australian GLBTIG Multicultural Conference. He is currently involved in projects that involve social media and sexual health promotion.
