Wear It Purple Melbourne Campaign Launch

Wear it Purple has a simple message:
“You have the right to be proud of who you are.”On September 22nd 2010, 18 year old Tyler Clementi threw himself off the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey. He had just been publically ‘outed’ as gay by his roommate, who video streamed footage of his sexual encounter with another man on the internet without his knowledge or permission. A media frenzy began, and report after report poured i...n about the individual stories of young people who were committing suicide because of bullying and homophobia.

Minus 18 holds its first General Meeting!

Minus 18 has held its first general meeting with a 13-person-strong board. The move will see the organisation become financially independent and shift away from its reliance on the ALSO Foundation. Under the group’s new rules over half the board must be under the age of 26. Chair, James Campbell, said the group will remain a youth committee of young volunteers that will continue to support and advocate dor the health and wellbeing of same sex attracted and transgender (SSAT) young people.
