Same Sex Marriage Protest

Equal Love has secured keynote speakers Sir Ian McKellen (in Melbourne performing in ‘Waiting for Godot’), Senator Sarah-Hanson Young, and Victorian Education Minister Bronwyn Pike for the demonstration happening on Saturday May 15th. Sen. Hanson-Young will receive a petition of over 100,000 signatures to table in the federal senate.

“This is one of the largest petitions ever tabled in Australia’s history – it signals the massive outrage that our community feels at being denied our civil rights”, said Equal Love’s Ali Hogg.

The protest will also feature a huge public ‘Kiss-in’, with gay, lesbian and transgender couples publicly kissing en masse in busy Swanston Street. The Melbourne Kiss-In is being coordinated on the day to contribute to The Great Global Kiss-In, sponsored by the Committee for the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO).

Join in the fun, and fight for equal rights - MEET AT 1PM, STATE LIBRARY, SATURDAY MAY 15th
